NFS Most Wanted is set in the fictional city of Rockport, with the central campaign being told in a series of full-motion video sequences that feature the mix of real-world and CGI footage.

The PC version of this game was one of the most popular versions, allowing gamers to take full advantage of their powerful hardware and to even install simple car mods that expanded the car list of the game. Need for Speed Most Wanted is represented the culmination of the efforts of Electronic Arts and the developers at EA Canada to create an open-world racer that would satisfy millions of fans of NFS games that were in the early 2000s enjoy the games such as Hot Pursuit 2 (2002), Underground (2003) and Underground 2 (2004).
